The New Normal

We are SO looking forward to reopening the beer garden from tomorrow (12th April) at 5pm for drinks.

Please see below for a few updates on what to expect.

On arrival, please sanitise your hands and scan the track and trace (if you don’t have a smartphone, we can do this via paper) – we recommend downloading the NHS app in advance.

We be outside to greet you and show to your table if you have made an advance booking. If you haven’t booked, please wait to be seated.

With current government guidelines, we will take orders and for drink and food at your table.

You must wear masks until seated, and if going to use the toilet.

Unfortunately at present, as everyone must remain seated, we are unable to allow use of the play equipment so children must also remain seated and dogs must remain on leads.

Let’s all take this next step safely and hope that these restrictions can be lifted soon.

Update 27th November

Morning all!

On 2nd December (Wednesday) once the existing lockdown ends we will be reopening with Tier 2 restrictions in place.

Heres what that means for us (and pubs in general)

We are sadly not able to open just for a drink at present. (but we can do takeaway beer)

For indoor service, we can only serve alcohol if you are having a substantial meal with us . Your party can only be made up of people you live with/your bubble

If seated outside, the rule of six applies (separate households) but again, alcohol can only be served with a meal.

Table service remains in place for both

Unfortunately, you cannot finish your meal and have another drink, alcohol is only able to be served during your meal

We guarantee you will continue to receive a very warm welcome as usual, we are very grateful for your continued support.

We understand this is frustrating, but please remember, this is only temporary and if we all adhere to the guidelines, it will help keep everyone safe and well

From Wednesday, our hours are as follows

Wednesday & Thursday 11.30-3pm and 5.30-10.30pm (food service 11.30-2pm and 6-9pm)

Friday & Saturday 11.30 – 3.30pm and 5.30-10.30pm (food service 11.30-2.30 and 6-9pm)

Sunday 11.30-5.30pm (food service 11.30-4pm)

The following week we will be open Tuesday – Sunday

Updated 1st November

From 4th November – 2nd December the pub will be closed due to national lockdown. However we will be offering a takeaway/delivery service. Please take a look here for our menu and ordering information

which we will provide further details of shortly.

Updated 23rd September

Here we are again with some more updates for you!

Due to the new government curfews on pubs and restaurants, we will be closing at 10pm each evening, this will make last orders 9.30pm

Below are a few more changes which pubs must now adhere to:

Customers entering the pub, must wear a face mask until seated. When going to the toilet, you must put your mask back on.

Table service is now for both indoors AND outside tables. With this in mind, if you are planning on sitting outside, please take a seat in the garden and a member of our team will come and take your order.

Payment must be taken at the table.·

The rule of six remains.

Track and Trace remains, you must do this every time you visit. You can do this with staff on arrival or if you have the NHS Track and Trace app downloaded, just scan our QR code on entry and your track and trace check in can be done that way…easy peasey!

We understand how frustrating this all is, but please do work with us in order to adhere to these new rules so that this all passes sooner (and we don’t receive any fines

We have some more flagons arriving tomorrow so we will be able to offer you carry out beers should you wish to take beer home with you.Our love and thanks to you all. Please do continue to suppprt your local pubs

UPDATED: 2nd September

We are so pleased to now open the inside of the pub. Please see below for updates to our operation.

If you want to be guaranteed a seat inside for eating/drinking then booking is essential, you can do this by calling us on 01366 347410

Please head to the rear doors where you will be greeted and taken to your table.

Inside the pub is table service only, please do not approach the bar, our team will come and take your food and drinks orders.

Please do not rearrange the tables and chairs, they have been placed specifically to allow enough distance between tables

Sorry but we cannot have any ‘vertical drinking’ at present, all inside the pub must remain seated (a bit like on a fairground ride!)

We understand that this is not the same as usual, but please remember, this is only temporary and we are all in this together.

3rd July 2020

We are really looking forward to seeing you again, we have missed you very much indeed!

Below are a few changes you can expect whilst we work through ‘the new normal’ to keep you and our team safe. Please bear with us, we understand that at times this may be frustrating and we ask that you are patient with the team whilst we are all adjusting.

In the first instance, we are only opening our outside area. We will be reviewing this on 12th July with the hope we can open up some inside areas.

There are benches in the garden, plus structures in the garden should you require cover. There is also a structure and tables/chairs on The Green should you prefer to sit there.

Our benches have been placed at appropriate distances, under no circumstances can these be moved.

Please choose a table to sit at (please do not sit at a table which has yet to be cleared, a team member will need to clean and sanitise it)One member of your party should come to the order point to order your drinks, and place your food order. Your drinks will be served immediately and your food will be delivered to your table when ready.

Please use contactless for payment Please keep a minimum of one-metre distance at all times.

There are temporary toilets available for use (don’t worry, not portaloos) that have sinks and sanitiser .

The Disabled toilet will also be open in the pub for those who need it.

Groups are limited to members of any two households or a group of six people (at most) from any number of households

We are sorry, but for now the children’s play area is not able to be used. And due to the space available in the garden children will not be able to run free in the garden 🙁 We recommend bringing a table activity to keep little ones amused at the table

We guarantee you will continue to receive a very warm welcome as usual, we are very grateful for your support.

Please remember, this is only temporary and if we all adhere to the guidelines, it will help keep everyone safe and well
