DESCRIPTION:Live music returns to The King’s Arms! Join us on Friday 27th August for a dance\, with music from No Commitments. \nAbout the Band \nIn 1987 Roddy Doyle a thirty three year old English teacher wrote his first novel. It was called The Commitments. It told the story of the birth of a new band\, set on the North side of Dublin. In 1991\, to everybody’s incredulity the book was made into a film that took the entertainment world by storm. \nThey used unknown street musicians to play the characters\, the setting was the run down areas of Dublin\, the language was blue\, but the sum of the parts was a film that won a BAFTA award and grossed $15M in its USA premier. The reason it became such an iconic film was simply the music. The band played Soul music. 25 classic songs that are beyond exceptional. \nOur line-up is Beverly on Saxophone\, Cliff on keyboards\, Geoff on drums\, Kathy on vocals\, Reg on lead guitar and vocals\, Steve on bass and Terry on trumpet.
